One of my favorite parts of newborn sessions is being the first person to listen to a mom telling her birth story.
Whether her experience was everything she’d dreamed or a traumatic one, it is an honor to be that initial audience to such a powerful story that will be told over and over.
Tara’s maternity and newborn sessions were beautiful, but it tugged at my heart strings to hear her lament over not having birth images for her daughter. I got to document the birth of Joshua, Tara’s second child, but she was unable to hire me this time around. I wish I could give the gift of birth photography away. They are truly the most cherished, empowering, and healing images.
Go ahead and wipe away those tears, Mamas. I didn’t get to illustrate her birth story this time, but she got the most gorgeous maternity and newborn pictures to show off!
I just HAD to include this awesome outtake!
Less than a week after I photographed this beautiful family at Marlatt Park in Manhattan, KS, I was meeting sweet Hannah. Tara’s third birth went perfectly smoothly and it was time to document those adorable, little details.
Grandma and Grandpa even got to jump into a few pictures!
