It was just shy of my twelve year mark in Manhattan, KS that a client told me to go check out Roger Schultz Park just up the road.
It’s hard to believe I’ve been a photographer for 10 years in Manhattan and had never heard of this park. Roger Schultz Community Park, formerly known as the Park at Lee Mill Heights, is GORGEOUS. I wish I’d known about it last fall. I had to relocate an extended family session planned for Warner Park because of a track meet. Roger Schultz is about a mile and a half West and every bit as beautiful as the hilly Warner Park. But, with even better views if you’re up for some walking.
You can access the main trailhead to Roger Schultz Community Park off by taking Miller Ranch Parkway to Loma Ridge Drive just past Lichen Lane. I was told there are plans to add a playground at the park’s entrance. But for now, it’s simply 76 acres of sprawling Kansas beauty.
Check out these fun photo comparisons from my first visit to Roger Schultz Community Park in January 2023 and my July 2023 trip with my daughter.
My Little Leapling didn’t just love the bugs. She was in heaven running and dancing down the beautiful trails.
What a fantastic Manhattan park to explore. I can’t believe it took me so long to find this hidden gem! You’ll find some of the most beautiful backdrops in Manhattan. Though be prepared for a bit of walking for the best views.
