Tulips at Twilight will be open from April 9 to April 25, 7:00-10:00 p.m. seven days a week, but this was such a gorgeous display even by the light of day. One of my favorite Kansas City families asked me to meet them halfway and I suggested this beautiful location having no idea what a treat we were in for.
Ward Meade Park is located just off of highway 70 at 124 N.W. Fillmore Street. What a heavenly sweet location!
When you first enter Ward Meade Park, you’ll pass through the Old Prairie Town, which began when the City of Topeka moved an old cabin to this site from Gage Park to protect it from vandalism. Other buildings were also eventually moved here to prevent them from being destroyed. You can currently find 12 different buildings here at Ward Meade Park’s Old Prairie town. Here area some of my favorites!
Now on to the tulips! What a wonderful surprise! I’m hoping I can make it back out there after 7pm before the event ends to enjoy the twilight display, but I was definitely in my happy place wandering around taking pictures of these beautiful flowers. I could easily have spent a few hours indulging in the beautiful colors and scents of Spring.
I’m in love with these little firecrackers! Aren’t they gorgeous?
Ward Meade Park has become my favorite place to take photography clients when I visit Topeka. This amazing tulip display was a fantastic surprise! I’d love to know where some of your favorite locations in Topeka are. I only charge a small travel fee to meet you out there for a photo session. Send me a message and let’s get you on my calendar!
You can find my favorite locations in Manhattan, KS where I live here!
