I haven’t had a newborn session in my studio in a very long time now.
In home sessions are so much easier!
Mom doesn’t have to leave the house while she is still healing from birth.
Dad doesn’t have to make with the forced smiles.
Older kids can easily take a snack break or go play for a bit.
And most importantly, the newborn is in her most comfortable environment.
Babies tend to sleep better, and when awake, they are less fussy.
There are no bright studio lights to upset your little one and the ambient light in your home makes for much softer, sweeter, more natural moments captured.
Complicated posing isn’t necessary to get great pictures.
Instead of pose after pose after pose, at home we just go with the flow. The pace is relaxed, we take frequent breaks, and generally let your baby and older siblings dictate what happens next. It works great!
If that sweet bundle does fall into deep sleep, we can still do some sweet poses, but I tend to save those for the end of your session when we don’t care as much if she wakes up in a mood.
One of the things I really like about in home sessions, is even older newborns tend to do great. We don’t have to be in such a rush to get the newborn session scheduled in the first week. Sometimes families just need a little extra time to settle into a routine before being ready for pictures.
Most clients reach out to me during their second trimester to make sure to snag a spot on my calendar, but we’ll wait until your little one arrives to solidify the perfect day and time.
