Spring and Summer are the best times of the year to visit the Kansas State University Gardens, but it’s a fantastic location for pictures year round. Located on the West side of the K-State campus off of Denison Avenue, it is completely free to walk around and take in the magical scenery. I love to practice my macro photography on the flowers and insects and it’s one of my favorite places to take my clients when the gardens are in season.
There are endless great spots for pictures on the K-State campus. The landscaping is fantastic, there are lots of beautiful buildings, and it’s easy to get a variety of backdrops anywhere you choose to meet. The K-State gardens in the Spring or Summer, though? Hard to pass up!
Even during the Fall and Winter, the K-State Gardens has a lot to offer. The foliage is beautiful, the fountains are typically on until the first freeze, and the greenhouse makes for a wonderful backdrop, as well.
This is one of my favorite locations in Manhattan for headshots and senior photos. Check out that amazing Redbud tree! Beautiful!
But, the two fountains are definitely my favorite feature at the K-State gardens.
I loved this beautiful couple’s headshot session! We started over at Hale Library, but nothing beats the golden light coming through the main fountain at the gardens. It’s simply magical!
If you are bringing your kiddos on a hot day, be sure to bring a couple towels and let them splash around. I’m a sucker for water pictures! They are so much fun!
Don’t forget to plan a visit to the Insect Zoo.
