Museum of Art + Light

Manhattan’s Museum of Art + Light opened in November 2024. Local social media groups critiqued the design and necessity for another museum so close in proximity to the Flint Hills Discovery Center. And after opening, there were plenty of mixed reviews on the exhibits being worth the cost of entry. But, when I finally visited the Museum of Art + Light on July 30, 2025, I regretted not making the trip sooner.

The moment my 13 year old daughter and I entered the downstairs Mezmereyz exhibit, I had no doubt that I would be returning for every artist featured. The first few moments reminded me of my very favorite art exhibit in Washington, DC.

I truly felt like I was a part of the artwork as it danced over the walls, floors, and our bodies.

My favorite parts about the Renoir exhibit were the floors moving as they transitioned between themes, and the way I felt like I was in Robin Williams’ What Dreams May Come movie. It was magical, and I didn’t want to leave.

This immersive exhibit is something you experience with your full being.

The artwork seems to flow through you. You are very much a part of the paintings. On my more recent visit, we were asked not to make contact with the walls. Apologies! Please don’t touch or lean against their walls so they can keep them clean for the projected artwork.

I feel badly teasing you with the Renoir exhibit which cannot be experienced, anymore. But, I can’t help but to share more of my pictures. Hang in there! The current exhibit is going to be included, too!

All of the images I’ve shared so far are from the first floor immersive digital art experience. Below are examples of what you’ll see on the second and third floor.

Make sure to explore the third floor. Cafe Azul is wonderful and if the weather is nice, you’ll want to step out onto the balcony to enjoy the views!

The entry way of the Museum of Art + Light is pretty fantastic, too!

Our second visit to the Museum of Art + Light was on December 28, 2025. We planned on at least 90 minutes in the Mezmereyz immersive exhibit this time so we could relax and fully enjoy it. Kaia brought a book and, of course, I came equipped with my camera.

I don’t know how she was able to read in there!

We both enjoyed the digital art exhibit in July better, but we’re still very glad we made this second trip. We’ll definitely be back for the next installation. And the nice thing about this blog post is that it can give you a good idea of how cool the Mezmereyz Immersive experience is without giving away the future exhibits!
