For a few years now, with an empty nest in sight, my goal has been to become a family travel photographer. Imagine having a super fun and energetic professional photographer traveling with your family on your next vacation. We are going to get such incredible pictures of your adventures!
Over the next five years, I’ll continue to live in Manhattan, Kansas, taking a variety of photography clients, and building my travel portfolio. If you are interested in having me to travel to your home city to capture the love and laughter, please do reach out! I’d love to come to you!
I’m also working toward purging unnecessary belongings to become more mobile so that when my daughter graduates, I’ll be able to better focus on traveling with families for their vacations.
I’ve already added a new Travel category to my blog. You’ll find trips to New York, Boston, and Mexico already up. But, as I find time between my client galleries, I’ll be adding a concert gallery from Jazz Fest 2025 in New Orleans, and my recent trip to Acadia National Park in Maine.
I’ll be starting my family travel photography portfolio primarily with a photo session at the beach in Oceanside, California. I also took pictures of this awesome family in the San Diego Botanical Gardens, San Diego Zoo, Oceanside Beach, and La Jolla Cove. This may not have been an actual vacation for the Pence family, but they sure did have a lot of fun!
Because we needed to stick with a morning photo session, I knew we’d be embracing the marine layer for their beach photos. Not only did this make for a lovely, simple background with minimal distractions. But, there were very few other people on the beach, and the marine layer provided a wonderful, natural filter.
Beach pictures can be tough because the water restricts my ability to get as many angles. Combined with harsh light from direct sunlight, time of day becomes crucial. Thanks to the marine layer, we were able to start later in the morning and still take advantage of the nice, even lighting.
Despite the beautiful location, can you tell which member of the family didn’t exactly want to be there?
No worries! He eventually got in the groove. Game on, Mom!
Kids don’t want to pose, they want to run! Let’s have some fun, friends!
I’ll come back to link up my California blog posts here as soon as I can. Clients first! But, in the meantime, but sure to follow me on Facebook at Little Leapling Photography and TEKimages.com.
