Your favorite Manhattan, KS photographer has some prime time tips for you! This National Dog Day I’m spilling the beans on the best props for your teen’s senior photos. [Hint hint, it’s your dog.]

Obviously, the whole session doesn’t need to include your special senior’s furry pal. Even just a few minutes of that beautiful bond can bring that teeny bopper out of their shell. We’re going to get some wonderfully genuine smiles!

We might even get some action shots!

One of my favorite things about senior photo sessions is having that extra time to mix things up. I love the variety of outfits and locations we get to enjoy when there is only one person being highlighted. Well, and their canine companion, of course!

I have 6 years of experience volunteering as the lead photographer with the Riley County Humane Society. So, I know the best places to go and how to keep your doggo calm and smiling.

When planning these senior photo sessions, most parents think of props as sports equipment, instruments, books, etc. And those are GREAT to bring along. Super simple to include. I will always ask if the family has any pets, though.

Dogs truly are the perfect prop!

Can we include other animals in your senior photos?

Absolutely. I’ve done senior (and family) photo shoots with cats, dogs, horses, and even some exotics. We will find the perfect location to keep your pet safe and happy. Speaking of which, Marlatt Park is not only one of my favorite Manhattan-area locations, but dogs are allowed to be off leash!

And one of the best bonuses? You’re going to walk away with some fantastic pet portraits, usually at no extra cost.

I’m planning to highlight some family and newborn sessions that include fur babies soon!
