Studio newborn photos? Nope. Not here. A studio is great for non-walker portraits, maternity photos, and specialty sessions. But, babies belong at home. Soft, natural light, relaxed snuggles, story time in bed and plenty of playful attention for older siblings. I like to follow your littles’ lead as opposed to constantly directing the show. Your home provides a far more stress-free environment for everyone. And you get to hang onto those real moments!
Studio sessions consist of endless posing. Even if we are using natural light in studio, it is much more difficult to capture those sweet, candid moments. I want to document the feelings, the connections, and all of the love in your babe’s new home. I’m trained in infant safety and posing, but I want to capture those true lifestyle moments that will pull on your heart strings forever. I want you to get your snuggle on!
Yes! I want to photograph those precious, little details like the itty bitty fingers and toes, back wrinkles, and that soft fuzz still covering your newborn.
But, I also want to help you remember the details of your home when you welcomed your baby. I take pictures of everything from the books on the shelves in your nursery, to the pictures already hanging on the walls in your living room. You may or may not choose to include those in your baby’s newborn album, but I have no doubt that you’ll be glad to have them.
So, as you are researching newborn photographers,
don’t limit yourself to a studio.
I actually have a studio, but I have found that even if your home is tiny, dark, and a mess, babies consistently do better in their natural environment. And I want you walking away with warm, fuzzy feelings rather than exhausted from a stressful studio experience. Those feelings will resurface every time you look at the pictures!
Studio newborn photos might be what you are most familiar with and you may even have your heart set on some super cute studio poses. Feel free to send me pictures of what you have in mind because most times I can recreate that same look in your home with a few simple props!
