Not only was she the bright and beautiful reward after the heartache of a miscarriage, but she also represents the amazing opportunity that surrogacy provides to gay fathers wishing to have a child of their own.
These two awesome daddies traveled from their home in Sweden where surrogacy is not yet allowed so that they could realize their dream of having a baby. I had the honor of photographing them with their chosen surrogate mama for the birth announcement, maternity pictures, birth, and lifestyle session.
Normally, I like to let my pictures tell the story, but there is a hidden story within these photos. That is the friendship that formed. My husband asked for a divorce shortly before the birth of Ellen, so I was in quite the fog. Photo sessions are the best way for me to take my mind off of personal drama, especially births where I’m all about supporting my clients emotionally. But, I got to spend quite a bit of time with Johan and Jakob and they quickly became part of my support circle. I will always be grateful for the love they showed me during that difficult time!
