Let's Do This!

The Heart of the Legacy | FEatured Family

Nothing reinforces the importance of "documenting the now" quite like the stories from my clients. Recently, one of my favorite clients reached out with the heartbreaking news that they suddenly lost one of their beloved dogs. Amidst the grief, she shared how beyond grateful she was for the beautiful portraits we have captured over the last few years.

Those images aren't just photos, anymore. They represent an unforgettable legacy. This is why I always encourage my clients to include their pets. Whether it is a high-energy afternoon at the park or a quiet morning in your living room, these moments are fleeting. I am here to make sure they are preserved with the grit, heart, and museum-quality detail they deserve.

Get to KNow me

My life has always been defined by the presence of animals. I grew up in a household that included seven dogs and an endless list of other domestic animals, so I am no stranger to the beautiful chaos that pets bring to a home. I have been photographing dogs, cats, horses, and even exotic animals professionally since 2013, but my connection to them goes back much further than my career.

I know firsthand the weight of the bond we share with our companions. I recently said goodbye to my thirteen-year-old puppy, Sirius, and that loss serves as a constant reminder of why documenting these lives is so vital. Currently, my Manhattan home is made complete by Fiona, my six-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix, Siayti, a six-month-old domestic longhair tabby, and Mbatuku, a geriatric ball python rescue.

About Your Pet Photographer

Hi, I'm Tammy!

Tammy Karin, photographer

Patience and Connection
Animals are unpredictable, and as a photographer, I lean into that. Whether your pet is high-energy and full of "zoomies" or shy and prone to hiding, I enjoy the challenge of connecting with them. I am incredibly patient and specialize in capturing those soulful, unscripted moments from pets that typically avoid people and cameras. My goal is never to force a pose, but to find the genuine personality that makes your pet a central character in your family legacy.

Grit, Heart, and Giving Back
My passion for pet photography was truly forged during my years volunteering my time and equipment for the Riley County Humane Society. I saw the power a single, museum-quality portrait could have in helping an animal find a forever home. Today, I continue that mission by donating my services to Cattails, the wonderful organization where I adopted Siayti. When you book a session with me, you are supporting a photographer who believes every animal deserves to be seen and celebrated.

Take a moment to share your vision for your family's photo session and let's get you on my calendar.  Feel free to use this form to ask any questions you might have about my services. I will respond via email as quickly as possible.
Your contact information will only be used by me for your photo shoot.
