Two year olds are hands down the most difficult subject for most photographers.
A photo session with a two year old is typically one epic game of chase.
It takes tons of patience, energy, creative ideas, and animal noises.
You can’t force a smile out of anyone, but trying to force one out of a kid
who just wants to run the other way and isn’t quite bribable?
Yeah, good luck!
Tatum, I have to say, was probably a little easier than most 2 year olds, but his
poor parents still looked like they wanted to crawl in a hole halfway through the session.
“This is totally par for the course!” I tell them.
“I’m getting great pictures, I promise!”
I understand why it seems a little hopeless at times, but trust me.
I’m catching those fleeting smiles and I have a whole arsenal of tricks.
You are going to love your pictures!
This session had the added complication of the crazy wind that took over the Flint Hills last week.
I chose the K-State campus because I knew that we’d not only get some nice backdrops out of the
beautiful stone buildings while waiting for things to green up out there,
but I was hopeful that they’d also provide some shelter from the wind.
I’m claiming success!
