This family session is the perfect example of what I like to include in my hour long photo shoots.
This sample family gallery includes two posed family pictures, a playful lifestyle picture of the full family, solo portraits of the kids, two pictures of the siblings together, a posed picture of Mommy and Daddy, and plenty of sweet moments of love and connection.
When I ask if a family wants a mini session or full hour session, I’m often told they’d like a 30 minute mini simply because they don’t think their kids will last an hour. NO KIDS LAST AN HOUR. Heck, few parents can keep up the charade that long. It’s all about the playful pictures!
I usually spend the first 5 minutes or so chatting and playing with my kiddy clients before covering my face with a big camera. That let’s them get comfortable with me and also let’s me see what their real smile looks like before we try for any poses.
Before we get started, I also like to confirm with Mom and Dad that this typical game plan is what they are hoping for and let them know I’m more than happy to work with any visions or poses they might have.
I always try to get posed pictures out of the way first, but it’s not uncommon for me to shift gears toward some fun lifestyle images if the kids don’t settle in quickly. And if they still aren’t giving me real cheeses for that essential family portrait, I’ve got plenty of tricks up my sleeves for getting the giggles out.
Even with a typically squirrely 3 year old and a sweet baby feeling crummy from being sick, I think we got some great smiles!
Enjoy this beautiful sample gallery! This family was awesome!
