The more in home sessions I do, the more I love them. Each session comes with a different set of challenges and endless possibilities for sweet poses and unique captures.
With studio sessions, it’s pretty much pose after pose after pose. If one thing doesn’t work, better think of something else before the kids lose interest!
Even outdoors, things can feel a bit repetitive for me. I’ve figured out how to keep things moving and some of the best ways of catching littles in full stride with a smile a mile wide. I love sessions where there is space, time, and optimal lighting for us to going on mini adventures, but a lot of the time, the focus is on engaging kids in a small shady patch. As long as I can get some real giggles, I’m still in my happy place.
Ahhh, but in home sessions! Every single one is different. Kids are in their comfort zone with plenty of things to do and play with. If they aren’t interested in something, let them go play and point the camera at whoever IS cooperating. The others will come back once they realize they are missing out on that crazy photographer lady’s silliness.
This newborn session was a great combination of real life, goofy moments, and pure happiness at home.
My hope is that when you get to the last picture, you realize that you’ve been smiling the whole time.
That’s how I felt while working on this awesome gallery! Enjoy!
